A Locally Owned, Specialist-Operated Practice
Orthodontics Victoria is owned and operated by Dr. Marlon Moldez, a registered orthodontic specialist in British Columbia and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCD(C)). The practice is not a franchise, corporate network, or associate-run model.
Diagnosis, interpretation of clinical findings, treatment direction, and responsibility for outcomes remain within the practice and are not delegated to automated systems, preset templates, or remote planning services. This structure supports continuity of care, clinical accountability, and consistency in decision-making from initial assessment through active treatment and follow-up.
Clinical Philosophy and Treatment Decision-Making

Orthodontic evaluation at Orthodontics Victoria extends beyond tooth position alone. Assessment considers dental alignment, bite relationships, jaw relationships, growth status, periodontal health, and other orthodontic findings relevant to safe and biologically appropriate care.
Not all patients require immediate orthodontic treatment. In selected cases, observation, delayed intervention, or staged care may be recommended when clinical findings indicate that timing or biologic considerations warrant a conservative approach.
When treatment is undertaken, mechanics and sequencing are selected within recognized biologic limits, with attention to stability, oral health, and functional considerations.
Orthodontic Specialist Profile
Dr. Marlon Moldez is a registered orthodontic specialist in British Columbia and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCD(C)).
His postgraduate education includes formal training in orofacial pain and oral medicine, informing careful evaluation of bite relationships, jaw function, oral tissues, and biologic limits as they relate to orthodontic care. This additional training supports interdisciplinary awareness while remaining within orthodontic scope of practice and does not represent treatment of medical conditions outside orthodontics.
Dr. Moldez practices with a conservative clinical philosophy that emphasizes diagnosis, biologic response, and appropriate sequencing. Treatment progression is guided by individual presentation rather than routine schedules or standardized pathways.

Patient Communication and Informed Decision-Making
Clear communication and realistic expectations are central to care. Treatment options, anticipated limitations, and alternatives are discussed to support informed decision-making.
Not all consultations result in orthodontic treatment. Recommendations are made only when clinically appropriate and aligned with the patient’s individual findings and circumstances.
Next Steps
Patients considering orthodontic care are encouraged to begin with a diagnostic orthodontic consultation. During this visit, clinical findings are reviewed and, when appropriate, potential recommendations are discussed.
For an overview of what to expect during this process, please see our article What Happens During an Orthodontic Consultation. Treatment decisions, timing, and options are confirmed only after appropriate assessment and diagnostic review.
